Open to Public: Every other month* on 2nd Thursday 4-6 p.m.

Working Group Meetings will be held during the other months. UWP’s new Working Groups are: Watershed Work, Financials/Fundraising, Operations, and Education/Outreach. If you are interested in volunteering on a working group, please contact Tanya at tanya@uncompahgrewatershed.org.

Snowshoe Tour to Yankee Girl Mine with Ouray County Historical Society

Join the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership and the Ouray County Historical Society on a fun, guided tour to Yankee Girl Mine.

Who can come: Everyone of all ages, as long as parents accompany children. Registration is required; releases will need to be signed by all.

What to bring: snowshoes, cross country or touring gear, appropriate clothing & accessories to keep you comfy & happy, lunch, water, sunscreen, friends, kids, but please leave your furry friends at home

What we’ll bring: warm drinks and cookies to complement your lunch

Cost: a $25 donation ($15 for children 14 & under) is requested to support our organizations, UWP & OCHS (please bring on day of tour)

Meeting Place: Ouray Visitor Center, 1230 Main St., Ouray, CO 81427 (from there we will carpool to CR 31)

Backup date: in the event of inclement weather, we will notify registrants by the night before the tour, and postpone the tour to Saturday, Feb. 25

First Aid for Festivals

UWP has organized two first aid trainings to enhance the safety and injury response at summer festivals like the Ridgway RiverFest. If you are interested in getting first aid certification from the American Heart Association or just spending a couple hours gaining a better understanding of first aid, you can sign up for one of these trainings.

  • First Aid Basics Class: Monday, June 18, 6-8 p.m. Learn fundamental first aid skills from Ouray EMS Paramedic Ruth Stewart. Up to 20 people (minimum: 6 people). Student fee: $15 (UWP will reimburse the first 12 registered Ridgway RiverFest volunteers for $10 of the fee after their shift on June 30. Others are welcome to sign up, but will need to pay the full fee.)
  • Certification Course: Friday, June 22, 8:30a.m.-12:30. Earn an American Heart Association First Aid certification card. Up to 6 people (a wait list will be started if there are more sign ups; an additional instructor or class may be added if 9 or more people sign up). Student fee: $35 (UWP will reimburse the first 6 RiverFest volunteers for $15 of the fee after their shift on June 30. Others are welcome to sign up, but will need to pay the full fee.)
