Lesson: Evaluating What Students Learned during Watershed Awareness Week

Objectives 

Sixth and seventh grade students will develop a poster presentation to eighth grade students who have already experienced both Year 1 and Year 2 watershed study. 

Ask sixth and seventh grade students to demonstrate understanding using this Essential Question using the guidelines on the Student Worksheet (see next page): 

“Is our Watershed Healthy? Why or Why not?” 

Ask eighth grade students (in pairs) to evaluate the success of each poster using the rubric on the following page. 

Outcomes 

After all in-class lessons and outdoor learning opportunities, sixth and seventh grade students will prepare posters or Google presentations that indicate mastery of vocabulary, data collection skills, mapping, and more to reflect on experiences from the week’s activities. 

Time Frame: 

Sixth and seventh grade: Total of two 60 minute sessions. 

Eighth grade: One 60-minute session
