UWP Board Member Mike Winter

UWP Board member Mike Winter

A Minnesota native, Mike has lived and recreated in Colorado for several decades. He currently resides in Montrose, due to its central location to outdoor recreational opportunities in all directions. He is both a geological and civil engineer, and has focused on a career addressing the legacy effects of mining on water resources in Colorado and other western States.

He is currently employed part-time with an environmental consulting firm as he transitions to retirement, and otherwise enjoys travel with his wife Anita to explore the inter-mountain West through hiking and camping, ceramic arts, and a variety of cultural events.

Mike enjoys volunteer work with nonprofit organizations that are focused on land and water conservation, particularly given the critical importance of healthy river corridors in western Colorado. Becoming a board member provides an avenue for him to continue using his skills for the benefit of all residents.
