Fun with the Uncompahgre Rubber Ducky Race

The staff of the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership (UWP) has grown in 2025! We hope you had a chance to meet Volunteer Coordinator Claire Barker and Hydrologist Virginia Weiskopf at the Ridgway RiverFest at the end of June. They join our already blossoming contractor crew, bringing our year-round staff to 4 scientists and 3 outreach and administrative specialists in 2025. This organizational growth is helping UWP get on the ground with more watershed monitoring, project design, and restoration.

Please support our efforts by purchasing entries in the Uncompahgre Rubber Ducky Race! We postponed this FUNdraiser until after RiverFest so we can get the duckies in the river, and more importantly capture them at the finish line, so none escape downstream.

The race will happen on Thursday, July 24. Online and in-person ducky sales end at midnight on July 23 or when all 290 duckies are sold out. Pay by credit card or PayPal online, or by cash at the UWP booth at the Ridgway Concert Series and Farmers Market. And plan to come and watch the yellow flock of ducks on the Uncompahgre on July 24 (even if you don’t buy an entry)!

Plus, don’t miss UWP Scavenger Hunt Reprise: Hartwell Park version! Visit the UWP booth at the Ridgway Concert Series (July 17) and Ridgway Farmers Market (July 18) for a chance to have fun with a new Scavenger Hunt, with lollipops to each group/person who hands in a filled-out answer sheet AND a chance to win a hat or stuffed animal.
