Nine volunteers came out in the rain at 9 a.m. last Saturday to clean up and maintain Rollans Park in Ridgway. By 10 a.m. the sun had come out and the event was a big success. A split rail fence that had been broken over the past few years was mended, including the digging of two post holes. Thanks to not only a few of our strong volunteers but also for the Town of Ridgway for supplying the wooden rails and posts (repurposed from the former Decker parking lot that is now Space to Create).
Volunteers also removed a variety of trash from cigarette butts to plastic sheets, styrofoam pieces, aluminum cans, bags, bike parts, and more. Other work included weeding in the trail and maintaining the trees that were planted in 2020.
Now the park is ready for summer visitors and Ridgway RiverFest on June 24!
