On Oct. 17, more than 25 community members came together at the Ouray Community Center to learn about and discuss the future objectives of the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership as it released its fourth strategic plan and shared information about the nonprofit’s past 10 years of work as well as vision for the future.
Special thanks to Dory Wick, who read a poem to open the evening. We also appreciate the sharing by UWP Board Member Scott Williams, UWP advisor Jeff Litteral, and volunteers Angela Todd, Danelle Norman, and Phil Harrold.
UWP’s strategic planning process in 2023 was supported by grants from the Telluride Foundation, Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment Non-Point Source Program, Ouray County, and Town of Ridgway. Meetings and field trips with partners over a four-month period resulted in a seven-page draft strategic plan that was shared with community members on Oct. 17. UWP staff members facilitated conversations with community members and leaders at roundtables during the event, facilitated by Anthony Poponi who helped guide the strategic planning process.
The UWP Board will review the strategic plan at the November 2023 board meeting, and plan to vote on approval of a final plan by January 2024. If you have questions or comments related to the plan, please contact UWP Executive Director Tanya Ishikawa at tanya@uncompahgrewatershed.org.
