Thank you, Intrepid Weed Pullers!
On May 22 morning, 10 volunteers gathered in Ridgway’s Rollans Park to pull noxious weeds. Concentrating most our efforts on the banks of the Uncompahgre River, we made a big dent in the spotted knapweed population, plus eradicated a few mullein, Canada thistle and some other invasives, as well as picked up some litter. Two in the group spent time on the gravel trail through the park, digging out weeds and raking it back into shape for this summer’s park visitors. A big thanks to Julie Kolb of Ouray County’s Vegetation Department for organizing the event!
