The Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership invites community members in the Upper Uncompahgre River Watershed (Ouray County residents, employees, business owners, and visitors) to answer a 10-question survey to help us understand your relationship with the watershed and our nonprofit. The survey, launched at the Ridgway RiverFest in June, will help UWP staff and board members as the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan is developed.
UWP is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a nonprofit in 2023. Though citizens founded our organization in 2007, the first board and former Executive Director Agnieszka Przeszlowska incorporated the watershed group as a nonprofit in 2013. Since that time, UWP has developed three strategic plans to help guide our projects and activities. The next strategic plan is being developed between July and November 2023, with a lot of input from UWP’s partners and the community.
This initial community survey will give UWP some basic information to consider as a draft plan is coming together. Then, the community is invited to one of two community meeting, held in Ridgway and Ouray, to provide feedback on the draft strategic plan and learn about watershed conditions and opportunities.

Sat., Sept. 30, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Water Quality Monitoring in the Upper Unc. A free guided field trip to view and learn about water quality monitoring around Ouray County.
Sat., Oct. 7, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Watershed Restoration in the Ironton Park Area. A free guided field trip to view and learn about watershed conditions along Highway 550 above Ouray.
Tue., Oct. 17, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Next 10 Years of the Upper Uncompahgre River Watershed, Ouray Community Center Massard Room. A free community event to share UWP’s history, goals and plans while gathering input about future projects and activities.
