June 26-27, 2015  | Rollans Park, Ridgway, CO

We kicked off the 2015 festivities with Wild Water Films and Silent Auction on June 26 at 6:30 PM at The Sherbino Theatre in Ridgway, CO.  Check the RiverFest website for final selection of whitewater action on the big screen.  RiverFest activities got under way at Rollans Park on Saturday, June 27 and included all-age river races, live music by The Royal We, local food and drink, kids’ activities, watershed educational and cultural programs.  The highlight of the day was the infamous “Junk of the Unc” race in which boaters race watercraft constructed from scrap materials not intended for river travel.

May 28-29, 2015  | Telluride-Mountain Village, CO

The free, public 5th annual conference was themed “Evolution of Society, Mining & Reclamation” and highlighted mining and reclamation projects in the San Miguel Watershed.  A full-day field tour included stops at several restoration sites between Telluride and Norwood.  On day two, speakers presented on topics and projects related to hardrock, coal and uranium mining and a final panel explored the futures of energy fuels, mining and reclamation.  The conference is a great venue for networking among citizens, environmental groups, industry professionals, watershed groups, and regulatory entities.  It is about sharing of experiences and latest technologies among all stakeholders to identify partnerships and solutions for mining and reclamation in the San Juan Region.  Read more…
