WILD WATER FILMS & RIDGWAY RIVER FESTIVAL

We kicked off the 2015 festivities with Wild Water Films and Silent Auction on June 26 at 6:30 PM at The Sherbino Theatre in Ridgway, CO. Check the RiverFest website for final selection of whitewater action on the big screen. RiverFest activities got under way at Rollans Park on Saturday, June 27 and included all-age river races, live music by The Royal We, local food and drink, kids’ activities, watershed educational and cultural programs. The highlight of the day was the infamous “Junk of the Unc” race in which boaters race watercraft constructed from scrap materials not intended for river travel.

SAN JUAN MINING & RECLAMATION CONFERENCE
May 28-29, 2015 | Telluride-Mountain Village, CO
The free, public 5th annual conference was themed “Evolution of Society, Mining & Reclamation” and highlighted mining and reclamation projects in the San Miguel Watershed. A full-day field tour included stops at several restoration sites between Telluride and Norwood. On day two, speakers presented on topics and projects related to hardrock, coal and uranium mining and a final panel explored the futures of energy fuels, mining and reclamation. The conference is a great venue for networking among citizens, environmental groups, industry professionals, watershed groups, and regulatory entities. It is about sharing of experiences and latest technologies among all stakeholders to identify partnerships and solutions for mining and reclamation in the San Juan Region. Read more…
UWP Booth at Ridgway-Ouray Community Council Parking Lot Sale, May 16, 2015 8 AM – 3 PM | behind Ridgway Public Library
HELP the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership raise money for our restoration and education projects in the Upper Uncompahgre Watershed at the annual ROCC Parking Lot Sale: Donate household items, sporting goods and any other no-longer-needed treasures to UWP so we can sell them at our booth, Volunteer to help sort, tag or sell items, Shop at the UWP booth on May 16!
SORTING HELP: Please join UWP Booth Coordinator Tanya Ishikawa from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at the UWP Office, 133 N. Lena St. #3A, Ridgway, to organize the donations and prepare them for sale.
BOOTH HELP: Please join Tanya for two hours or more (whatever you have available) between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 behind the Ridgway Library, 300 Charles St., Ridgway, to set up and sell items at our sales booth.
