I hope this finds you well.  I am working on submitting the Torpedo Eclipse Bathroom Project for an industry sustainability award. As a part of the application, letters of support from stakeholders, community, and partners are expected.  I was hoping that Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership Board of Directors might write such a letter.  The project utilized recycled materials from the collapsed Torpedo Eclipse Mine structures (a safety hazard) to build a fully-plumbed (non potable) bathroom on Ouray Silver Mines Property.  Construction was funded by the Six Basins Project,  land and power are provided by Ouray Silver Mines, and the bathrooms are maintained by the Forest Service. The decision criteria reflected in this project include

  • Recycling/Reuse
  • Water Conservation and Pollution Prevention (in this particular case human waste and sanitation)
  • Waste Management
  • Repurposing of Mined Lands
  • Community Engagement/Education

Entries are due December 31st, so it would be ideal to receive the letter by Dec. 15.  Please let me know if UWP is willing to do this and how I might be of assistance.
