Join organizers from the Ouray Ice Park and Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership to help restore the natural resources in the Uncompahgre River Gorge. Historic use by the early settlers left mining, railroad and other industrial debris, while more recent gorge visitors left construction debris scattered around. This year, we will concentrate our efforts on the annual litter removal (large and small), removing brush and branches, and graveling areas that are eroding.
After the cleanup, join us for lunch donated by Ouray Grocery and beer donated by Ouray Brewery plus a tour of the park. This event is partially funded by the Frank L. Massard Trust, and affiliated with American Rivers National River Cleanup and Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup.
You’ll want to join us this year – we’re a fun group! Please wear layers as the morning and shadowy canyon (all day) can be cold but the sun is intense. BYOG – Bring your own gloves (and safety glasses and ear protection if you night be helping at the wood chipper), plus please wear sturdy shoes (hiking boots would be great). Also recommended are sunscreen and a hat and/or sunglasses.
Minors (12 and up) are welcome and encouraged to join our event, but must be accompanied by an adult or provide a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.
Please register so we can plan activities and lunch based on registration numbers:

We will meet at the main entrance to Ouray Ice Park next to the upper bridge on Camp Bird Road (CR 361), which is next to the Kid’s Climbing Wall. Please park at the bend in the road before you reach the bridge (a one-minute walk to the entrance), or in the parking area in the bend in Highway 550 across from the start of CR361 (a four-minute walk to the entrance).
If you have questions, please email Tanya at info@uncompahgrewatershed.org.
Thank you!
