On Saturday, September 15, Kent Nelson led an informative bird walk on a brisk but beautiful morning. The birds were hiding at first, but as soon as the sun rose they were up and about like crazy!
We saw warblers, solitaires, flickers, nutcrackers, vireos, hawks, and much more!
The bird walk was in conjunction with the Bird Banding that has been sponsored by the Ridgway State Park all week long. When we returned from our bird walk, Amber from the Audubon Society was banding a beautiful Lincoln Sparrow!
This bird walk was a great example of what the Uncompahgre Watershed has to offer, even when the river is low and the weather is getting cooler. We hope to enjoy more bird walks in the future. A big thank you to Kent Nelson for leading us around and showing us the beautiful bird life of Ouray County!
